The Shining Heart Community of Greater Kansas City is holding its Annual Festival of Rumi, a celebration of the 13th century Sufi poet and mystic Jelaluddin Rumi.
We came whirling out of nothingness scattering stars like dust.

Join Allaudin and other local dance leaders as we center our class around the words of Rumi set to music. The dances use music and phrases with simple steps to help us attune to his mysticism.

Celebration of Rumi Turn Class
from 4:00 - 5:00

Exploration of the Turn through Movement and Stillness: stories of Rumi, introduction to the Turn, an exploration of the elemental breaths as related to turning. All are welcome. Turning will be optional, though encouraged.

Catered Meal from 5:30 - 6:30 pm
For the convenience of Turn Class participants, out-of-town visitors, and local folks who love the food of Marwan, the Shining Heart Community is offering a mid-eastern meal.
If you are interested in breaking bread with your sisters and brothers, email Marty Amin Kraft at martyk@allspecies.org by Friday evening Dec 6th. Cost $10 for all those over 10 and no cost to youngsters. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The main event of the festival features music, dance, zikr, and the poetry of Rumi. We are honored once again to have our semazens do the meditative turn during zikr.
Snack-luck rounds out the evening celebration. Bring something sweet.
